5. Janet, Chrissy, Jack (Three’s Company) – Though their relationships are strictly platonic, Three’s Company presented a hilarious sitcom scenario: Janet and Chrissy allow Jack to move-in with them but must keep up the charade that Jack is gay to keep their landlord, Stanley, off their back. Very quickly, Janet, the landlord’s wife, discovers Jack’s true sexuality and helps keep the secret from her husband. The premise created many funny set-ups for the roommates to keep their secret under wraps including Jack’s attraction to the beautiful Chrissy. The roommates deep love and need for each trumped any instances of sexual attraction. Cast departures and additions inevitably altered the show’s humor in the latter seasons, but it’s still considered one of the funniest sitcoms ever to grace television.
