Actors and married couple Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem were among the first of 25 stars to receive a sidewalk plaque on Madrid’s new Street of Stars, La Calle De Las Estrellas.
Similar to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, this tribute to Spanish celebrities was unveiled yesterday, with actor Antonio Banderas and singer Julio Iglesias among the others given the honor.
Cruz and Bardem, not often seen in public together, shined as they posed with their stars, each other, and director Pedro Almodovar.
Cruz donned a red one-shoulder dress with Christian Louboutin heels, while Bardem chose a blue shirt and black jeans for the big event.
This was not Cruz’s first star.Back in April, she became the first Spanish actress to receive a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
The U.K’s Daily Mail reported that Cruz, who has a baby son Leo Encinas with Bardem, now has a new outlook on her work: “I think we all change every day but after years of being a workaholic and always being tired, I’ve changed rhythm and found a more happy equilibrium,” said said. “I feel I have won the biggest lottery. I’m doing what I love as my job and I am so grateful for the things that I have.”
