Pee-Wee Herman Parties On Broadway!

If there were ever proof that things go out of style and come back into style it would have to be the popularity of Pee-Wee Herman. Or Paul Reubens, if you are so inclined. Reubens is back with a Broadway show, based on an original 1981 production, and basically acts out like the TV show I grew up with.

Last night, many stars attended the opening night after-party, including Susan SarandonMartha Plimpton, Parker Posey, Alan Cumming, Anthony Edwards, John Waters and Rosie O’Donnell to name a few.

You must remember the tv show, right? Well, the live show is sort of like that…

The New York Daily News sums it up best:

There’s no story line, per se. Childlike Pee-wee chills, sings and dances, dreams of flying, reads pen pal letters from around the world (including prison, an allusion to Reubens’ real-life scrape with the law) and shows a cartoon and a vintage educational film about good manners.

I just remember being a kid and plopping down in front of the tv and watching Pee-Wee’s Playhouse all the time so I’m dying to go see this show!

Do you all remember who sang the theme song? Give it a guess…
