In what looks to be a very sincere video, Food Network star Paula Deen has posted an apology video (the original short video was deleted and replaced by this video, which you can watch above). While she may be truly sorry for this mess, this is something that will take more than an apology video for people to get over.
In a video released Friday afternoon, the 66-year-old celebrity chef and Food Network star said, “I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong that I’ve done. I want to learn and grow from this.”
“Inappropriate, hurtful language it totally, totally unacceptable,” she continued. The video ends with Deen saying, “Please forgive me for the mistakes that I’ve made.”
Deen, 66, and her brother Bubba Hiers were sued by former employee Lisa Jackson, who alleged sexual harassment and a hostile work environment at Deen and Hiers’ restaurant, Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House.
Her full statement from the abbreviated video is below.
After spending all day soul searching and trying to figure out how to deal with what I did, I recorded a video trying to do the right thing. In the end, Ifelt that I needed to just be myself, say I am sorry and beg for frogiveness.
What said was wrong and hurtful. I know that and will do everything that I can do make it right. I am not about hate, and I will devote myself to showing my family, friends and fans how to live a life helping others, lifting us all up, and spreading love.
