One Direction‘s Niall Horan and Liam Payne set up shop near an escalator at Westfield Shopping Center in the Shepherd’s Bush neighborhood of London yesterday and performed for unsuspecting shoppers. They were followed by a camera crew, according to Contact Music, indicating that this stunt might be featured in an upcoming show.
The boy band recently reached 12 million sales worldwide in less than a year, according to Columbia Records. This includes 8 millions singles, 3 million albums and 1 million DVDs. The boys were presented with a special disc on July 31st in the UK by Sony Music and Syco to mark the achievement.
“We are obviously ecstatic and incredibly humbled by our award today,” Payne said. ”We have an incredible team of people around us who have helped us achieve this and above all we would like to thank our fans. We owe all our success to them.”
Get fired up, ’cause the boys will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6th; They’re also nominated for two awards-Best Pop Act and Best Pop Video. December 3rd brings them to New York City’s Madison Square Garden for a special concert before embarking on a world tour in 2012.
