Olympic Inspiration: Stars Wearing Stella McCartney [PHOTOS]

Stella McCartney and Adidas paired up to design Great Britain’s Summer Olympics 2012 uniforms (or “kits” as they say colloquially).

McCartney used Britain’s Union flag as a launching pad for the designs, ultimately deconstructing it to be “more delicate and feminine”.  Heavy on hues of blue, red is used sparingly, more so an accent color for shoes and accessories.  McCartney received backlash after the preview in March for her allegedly “too blue” collection, but defended her color conscious choice as a means to unify the aesthetic of the British Olympic team.

McCartney is beloved among the celebrity circuit for creating strong, yet ultra-feminine and figure flattering pieces.  Most recently, Jaime King was spotted in a blue brocade McCartney dress, similar to the one Chloe Grace Moretz wore to the Dark Shadows premiere.

Kristen Wiig, Cameron Diaz, and M.I.A. were all seen sporting McCartney’s designs alongside McCartney herself at this year’s Costume Institute Gala.

Even Great Britain’s golden girl, Kate Middleton donned an electric blue McCartney dress to the National Portrait Gallery recently with what looks to be a very Olympic inspired necklace.
