WATCH: Octavia Spencer Reprises ‘The Help’ Role on ‘SNL,’ Gives Kate McKinnon as Jeff Sessions a Special Pie

This week’s Saturday Night Live cold open featured Kate McKinnon in male drag as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, with a unique Forrest Gump twist.

Sessions is currently mired in controversy over his failure to acknowledge meetings with top Russian officials during his confirmation hearings.

In the sketch McKinnon sat on a park bench chatting up any number of coming-and-going strangers. “Life is like a box of chocolates,” McKinnon said to Leslie Jones before dropping his racist boom: “Sure got a whole lot of brown ones in there.”

The skit also played up accusations that Sessions is racist by ending with a visit from The Help’s Minny Jackson, with host Octavia Spencer reprising her Oscar-winning role.

“My name’s Minnie,” Spencer says. “You don’t know me. I’m from a different movie. And I have a pie that I made especially for you.”

Anyone who has seen The Help should get that one, as McKinnon takes a big bite and delivers the big line, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
