‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ Cast Are Some Pretty Good Fundraisers

May 24th, 2007 // 6 Comments

What do ya know. The party that the ‘Ocean’s’ cast threw to help repair Darfur as part of the Not on Our Watch project raised $9.2 million Tuesday night. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and producer Jerry Weintraub appeared on “Good Morning America” to deliver the good news.

“We had a big night last night,” Clooney told ABC’s Diane Sawyer. “We raised a lot of money. The big surprise for us was Steven Spielberg donated $1 million last night. That really kicked us over the top.”

Clooney and fellow “Oceans” star Cheadle have been heavily involved in projects to save Darfur. Clooney has gone before the United Nations to ask for more peacekeeping forces in the region; Cheadle has testified before subcommittees.

“The $9 million is for the refugee camps,” Clooney said. “And we want to immediately effect change and help people survive through the next months.”

Nice going guys!

I love all of the cast and respect them for doing this. Darfur is a crime against humanity.

When Angie does something good it’s for publicity and hatred is all over these boards. Noone says she is using her celebrity to do something good like the Ocean13 crew.

    Just for thought…

I totally agree, I also love the entire cast of the Oceans movies, and Bless them for what they are doing for the tragdy that is Darfur, the things going on over there are unthinkable. I just hope the US does more to combat the horror that is going on over there

I’ve noticed that too, and I’m sure we’re not the only ones. So far, Team Aniston seems like they’ve succeeded demonizing Angelina Jolie to a certain extent. The tabloid rags & shows love fanning the flames and profiting immensely.

Sorry guys, but with Angelina, it’s always me, me, me, me – with Clooney’s gang, it’s the cause. And don’t insult my intelligence by tooting Brad Pitt’s horn on this one. Brad participated, good for him, that’s all.

Kudos to you all for giving Angelina the benefit of the doubt. The mindless bashing of her is disturbing.

It would seem to be a no-brainer to believe her sincerety. She’s a beautiful, world-class movie star—-anything she does is press-worthy! Duh! Adopting otherwise orphaned children and committing herself and her money to help make the world a better place seems like a lot of work to get the publicity she has effortlessly.
She used to be a flamboyant, self-destructive wildchild who loved to shock. Sound familiar?
These sites are full of girls behaving wildly.

But girls get older and hopefully, grow up and out of their self-absorption.
The only thing that shocks me about Angie anymore is that she could possibly be more beautiful on the inside.
