Everyone is falling over themselves about Prince William‘s remark to Katie Couric on building a family. “I’m just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I, you know, are looking forward to having a family in the future,” the Duke of Cambridge said of having kids with his wife in ABC’s 20/20 special, The Jubilee Queen With Katie Couric.
When Couric pressed for when exactly that family plan would be implemented, William kept mum. “You won’t get anything out of me. Tight lipped.”
Duh! Half a monarchy’s battle is to create heirs so that they may prolong the family’s reign. Why is everyone so bowled over by William’s statement? One of Catherine’s primary jobs is to give the House of Windsor a future monarch (as was the case with Diana, Her Majesty and so on), and the couple are married so…what’s the surprise?
As for whether William will continue his tour with the Royal Air Force or commit to a life of full-time royal duties, the Duke confirmed that he’ll have to make a decision by year’s end. “I’m still trying to decide,” William said at his offices in Clarence House. “It’s a really difficult one because I really enjoy my time in the Air Force. And I’d love to continue it. But the pressures of my other life are building. And fighting them off or balancing the two of them has proven quite difficult.”
The two-hour special was quite interesting, and a good program for those not familiar with the monarchy. Both William and Harry were good sports, answering questions directly and joking with Couric about whether or not they text with the Queen. Harry, for his part, would also like a gal to make little Mountbatten-Windsors with. “I’ve longed for kids since I was very, very young. And so … I’m waiting to find the right person, someone who’s willing to take on the job.”
Chelsy Davy-Get your sh*t together and assume your destiny s as Harry’s wife. My goodness, such resistance to royal life.
