Not to downplay the projected severity of Winter Storm Nemo, but come on. Nemo? As in Finding Nemo? As in, “Just keep snowing! Just keep snowing!”
According to The Hollywood Gossip, The Weather Channel selected this name not after the sprightly young Disney Character we all know and love, but the character from 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
Nemo is “a Greek boys’ name meaning ‘from the valley.’ It also means ‘nobody’ in Latin.
The Weather Channel chooses unique names to raise awareness and give said storm a personality (which also raises awareness).
The storm is predicted to be a doozy, and dump at least two feet of snow in Boston by tomorrow. Today’s Al Roker says that it will be a “monster storm.”
Boston Mayor Tom Menino told reporters, “We are hardy New Englanders, let me tell you, and used to these types of storms. But I also want to remind everyone to use common sense and stay off the streets of our city. Basically, stay home.
“Stay put after noontime tomorrow.”
