Gary Marshall is doing the ensemble thing again, this time focusing on the worst night of the year. A mish mosh of stars will come together to star in New Year’s Eve, which “follows a diverse group of New Yorkers as they navigate their way through the annual drama and romance of New Year’s Eve.” Production is scheduled to begin February 1st in Manhattan.
Robert De Niro and Hilary Swank will co-star in the flick, and Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vergara and Lea Michele are in various stages of negotiations for roles. Halle Berry (who looks not-so-happy in the above pic) and Zac Efron are currently in talks to join the cast. Efron would play a bicycle messenger who “tries to fulfill Pfeiffer’s New Year’s Eve resolutions in exchange for tickets to a big party,” according to The Wrap.
Berry, seen here having some problems with the paparazzi while shopping yesterday (December 16), is in talks to play a caterer who runs into a former flame on this fateful night we all love to hate. And Parker will play Breslin’s mother, who is like an emotional barnicle to her young daughter. It’s Valentine’s Day with sub-zero Northeast temperatures. Get ready for some good fluff, Gary Marshall-style.
