Neil Patrick Harris Receives Rave Reviews At The Opening Night Of ‘Hedwig & The Angry Inch’

If you need another reminder that Neil Patrick Harris is a national treasure, then maybe his turn as a glam-rock, transgender singer in Hedwig and the Angry Inch will change your mind.

The showed opened on Broadway last night to rave reviews, especially for NPH himself. As Ben Brantley said in the New York Times, “Mr. Harris is in full command of who he is and, most excitingly, what he has become with this performance. That’s a bona fide Broadway star, the kind who can rule an audience with the blink of a sequined eyelid.”

Neil seemed overjoyed by the audience reactions at the curtain call. Just look at that smile. Also I appreciate that he barely took off his eye make-up to go pose with David Burtka on the red carpet after the show (try olive oil, it’s amazing at removing make-up). I love their white and pink outfits. They make me want ice cream.

If you are in New York, I URGE you to go see this show. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to make it out, so I’ll feel better knowing that one of you has seen it. Launch the gallery to check out all the photos from last night’s red carpet. Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long even made their first public appearance.

And if you have seen Hedwig on Broadway already, tell me how it is in the comments! Neil Patrick Harris, you are magical.

Saw in on Monday and sat in the front row. (BTW, did get sprayed!) NPH is an amazing talent. Every time that I see him in one performance and another, I am astounded by how versatile he is. Believe that this is a must see.
