NBC’s newest star, Christina Aguilera, wearing a polka dot Dolce&Gabbana dress, was on hand for the NBC Upfront presentation in which the network’s fall season schedule is revealed. NBC will attempt to revive its TV schedule by debuting twelve new shows next season, including a new comedy block and rolling out a high-profile musical drama from producer Steven Spielberg.
Gone are hopefuls such as Outsourced, The Event and Law & Order: Los Angeles. Instead, there’s a ’60s-set the Playboy Club, Saturday Night Live vets taking on parenting in Up All Night, comic Whitney Cummings breaking out in Whitney, a U.S. version of Helen Mirren‘s PBS/British TV mystery series Prime Suspect (without Mirren) and an updated fairy tale story in Grimm.
The network’s biggest priorities this fall are establishing more comedies and nurturing its only real hit in 2011, The Voice, into a multi-year franchise.
