Natalie Portman has taken on a new role, but this time it’s for a very important philanthropic cause. Portman announced her partnership with Feed the Children Tuesday in Paris.
“As a mother and the organization’s newest ambassador, I am grateful to Free the Children for giving me the opportunity to channel my passion and love of children into meaningful action that furthers the education and leadership of young women for years to come,” Portman said in a statement.
Portman is partnering with Dior for this new campaign. All the proceeds from the new Dior lipstick, Nude Grege No. 169, from their Rouge Dior line will benefit Feed the Children’s Scholarships for Girls’ Secondary Education in Kenya program. The lip color will be released Fall 2012.
She revealed she picked the shade due to its number 169 having a special meaning to her.
She said: “Six is the month that my whole family was born in — everyone was born in June. We’re all June babies. Nine is a magic number, and one is my son – his name is one in Hebrew, Aleph.”
“Investing in long term sustainable international development, which includes education, is key to breaking the cycle of poverty,” Portman said in a statement. “I hope others join me in supporting this important cause.”
