Mischa Barton Says She Was Drugged While Out Drinking Before Hospitalization

Mischa Barton has left hospital and claims being drugged at a party is to blame for her bizarre outburst.

The former O.C. actress has shed some light on why she was voluntarily taken into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday night (Jan. 25, 2017) for ”mental evaluation” after she was overheard making weird remarks about her estranged mother Nuala Barton being a ”witch” and was photographed falling off her garden fence.

She told People magazine:

“On the evening of the 25th, I went out with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. While having drinks, I realized that something was not right as my behavior was becoming erratic and continued to intensify over the next several hours. I voluntarily went to get professional help, and I was informed by their staff that I had been given GHB. After an overnight stay, I am home and doing well. I would like to extend a big thanks of gratitude to the professionals at Cedars-Sinai for their great care and professionalism. This is a lesson to all young women out there, be aware of your surroundings.”

According to reports, Mischa had been at her home with another guest when the police were called to the scene, and West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department’s Sergeant Duncan confirmed that the actress was “fully clothed” and “speaking in coherent sentences” upon their arrival.

Barton was involuntarily committed in 2009 for what she described in 2013 as a “full-on breakdown.” She rose to fame as a teenager for her role as Marissa Cooper on the Fox teen drama The O.C. from 2003 to 2006.

We are just glad to hear that Mischa is okay.
