Miley Cyrus has had quite a year.
The former Disney star was twerking all over the place in 2013, so it’s no surprise that Barbara Walter‘s picked Miley as one of her most fascinating people of the year. What is surprising is just how much Barbara got Miley to open up about her break-up with Liam Hemsworth.
Miley and Liam started dating in 2009 and announced their engagement in 2012, before finally calling it quits this September. And Miley had a lot to say about it.
“I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year.” More than becoming a twerking queen? Good deal. “I don’t ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can’t be yourself.”
Miley also said that an engagement at 19 was way too young. “I don’t think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn’t change being engaged. It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years. But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I’m just at my house, by myself.”
So both Miley and Liam are happier now. Isn’t that what’s important after a split? For both folks to be happy? I remember back when Miley and Liam got engaged, I really wanted them to make it work, just prove people wrong.
Now I’m actually looking forward to the rest of Miley’s interview with Barbara. What do you think about what she said? The idea of being alone is one a lot of people deal with it. I’m actually impressed she opened up about it. Tell us what you think in the comments! And check out a Miley and Liam relationship retrospective in the gallery!
