Michelle Obama Speaks

Our (hopefully) future First Lady (and View cohost!) Michelle Obama opened the Democratic National Convention in Denver last night with a stirring speech in which described her own upbringing as a middle class child on the south side of Chicago. Get it, ‘Shelle!  I wish she would have mentioned  the Tyra photo spread, though. Someone needs to address that shit.

“All of us [are] driven by the simple belief that the world as it is
just won’t do – that we have an obligation to fight for the world as it
should be,” she said. “And that is the thread that connects our hearts.
That is the thread that runs through my journey and Barack’s journey
and so many other improbable journeys that have brought us here
tonight, where the current of history meets this new tide of hope. And
you see, that is why I love this country.”

Michelle underwent some fire earlier in Obama’s campaign for making some sort of statement saying that her husband’s campaign for president was the first time she’s been proud of the US. It was later explained that she meant she had never been prouder. So last night was definitely her chance to clear shit up. Which she seems to have done. If you’re into her.
