Mel Gibson Quote of the Day

July 29th, 2006 // 22 Comments

Mel was arrested for drunk driving, and had something to say that really didn’t seem to pertain to the situation:

“F*****g Jews… The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.” Gibson then asked the deputy, “Are you a Jew?”

Reason number 46978 to deplore Mel Gibson.

I’m not a Christian fanatic like Gibson, however I do agree with the fact that Jews have great control over this country, Hollywood included. I feel both awe and resentment towards that group of people. I can imagine why he would’ve said that comment, especially in an intoxicated state.

  2. tee

Oh stop! Every freaking race sucks if it isnt your own!! Duh humans suck in general.

He should be thanking the jews for allowing him to make millions off of hating them.

  3. MizLiz

Mel Gibson’s father started him down this bizarre path…an ultra-conservative Catholic who denies the Holocaust ever happened at all. “Jewish Propaganda” he insists. I respected Mel Gibson as an actor and a filmmaker un til I saw “The Passion of The Christ”. His over-the-top vile caricatures of Romans and Jewish officials was so obviously slanted, without any sense of historical accuracy at all. Roman soldiers portrayed as gap-toothed slobbering monsters? I don’t think so. It would have been far more frightening to portray them as disciplined Marines, ready to carry out their orders, no matter what.

The man has no sense of history or judgement, and I’m not really surprised he’s falling apart now.

  4. Jinxy McDeath

He was never going to make another mainstream movie agian, but without distribution or a bad deal, he is fucked.

Nobody normal likes racists, especially the one’s who were made rich beyond their dreams by the people he hates for their religious background.

  5. Draya

Wow, Mel just sabotaged his career big time!

Mel, get thee to the Betty Ford Clinic, stat!

  6. Babybing

Alice, you poor ignorant slut. The Jews control Hollywood? They INVENTED Hollywood it, you stupid cracker, why shouldn’t they control it? They came to ths country with NOTHING and created an industry. And if they’ve got “great control” over this country it’s because they are smart, well educated, relatively affluent and well organized. Who should have control? White trash hillbillies who are married to their first cousins and started popping out babies at 14?? Get a grip, Alice.
You should also take note of the fact that at least 171 Jews and persons of half-Jewish ancestry have been awarded the Nobel Prize, accounting for 23% of all individual recipients worldwide between 1901 and 2005, and constituting 37% of all US recipients during the same period. In the scientific research fields of Chemistry, Economics, Medicine, and Physics, the corresponding world and US percentages are 26% and 39%, respectively. (Jews currently make up approximately 0.25% of the world’s population and 2% of the US population.)

  7. Big deal. So Mel Gibson doesn’t like the Jews. Who does these days?

  8. Jinxy McDeath

    Thad + Alice = Racists

A little help so you can hook up with like minded folks.

  9. Oh please. It’s not that I don’t like them, per se. It’s that I don’t find their ‘cultural contributions’ as significant as most people seem to believe they are. Though I do sympathize with them over how they were treated during the holocaust, in the last thirty or forty years, I don’t see them as being “persecuted” or “mocked”, as many Jews claim.

To be fair, I feel the same way about Catholics.

  10. alexis

babybing, responding to hate with more hate is not going to get you anywhere.
i am disgusted by gibson’s comment, just as i am disgusted by your comments about “white trash,” young, single mothers.
if you want respect for your culture, or any culture, then try respecting and understanding all cultures.

  11. alice

Well said alexis. To babybing, by “control of hollywood” I am talking about Jews and their unfair abuse of their power. We live in a free country, but do you really think we live in a censorship-free America? Loads of material get banned and we have no knowledge of it. They control what we watch at home, and at the movies. Movies are a form of art and yet nobody wanted to financially support Passion of the Christ. Why was it such a big deal? There are plenty of other religious, controversial movies. It’s just that for this one specific movie, the Jews just had to overtly complain about it and make a big fuss over it. I’m not saying that they werent unfairly represented. But it happens ALL THE TIME in the movie industry. Get over it. And there are plenty of other immigrant groups which our country was built upon, not just Jews (Irish, Italian, Chinese, etc). Who built the railroad? Who connected the east and the west? I can list facts and numbers for you too, but whats the point? Youre giving the Jews a bit too much cred. and to jinxy, try looking up the word “racist” in the dicitonary first.

  12. Jinxy McDeath

“To be fair, I feel the same way about Catholics.”

I am sure most catholics and Jews feel the same about you too, Thad.

” It’s just that for this one specific movie, the Jews just had to overtly complain about it and make a big fuss over it.”

Many people thought it was a bizarre concept for a movie and didn’t think Mel’s movie would make money, not just Jews. It’s show BUSINESS, so he had to finance that movie himself, but he reaped the rewards of the fanatics that went in droves to see it. It was not a good movie, but most “fundamentalist christians” aren’t very discerning either, just bigoted.

If he rehabs, Mel may get another shot to do a big movie. Mel spent the day with a hangover, profusely appologizing for acting a fool and spouting off his racist remarks.

There’s a lesson there for two of you.

  13. Ragdoll027

“most “fundamentalist christians” aren’t very discerning either, just bigoted.”

This statement is, just as you are complaining others are, bigoted.

  14. the guys worth 4 hundred millon bucks and he couldnt think of spending 10 bucks to take a cab ride home from the freaken bar!

  15. Thaddeus van Worthingheimer

“There’s a lesson there for two of you.”

I’m supposed to apologize for my sentiments on the over coddling of the people of the Jewish faith? That is something that this Protestant will never do.

Let’s replace “Jewish” with “Christian”, “Republican”, or “Conservative” in Mel Gibson’s statement and see the outcry then. Oh wait, there wouldn’t be an outcry. Because as Jinxy demonstrates, while criticizing the Jews is a big no-no, it’s perfectly acceptable to make shots as fundamentalist Christians (comments that were far more offensive than anything said about the Jews by either I or Alice); Babybing demonstrates that it’s fine to call someone a “white trash hillbilly”. But for the love of God, don’t say anything remotely critical of the Jews!

So, let me sum this up:

Making a critical statement of the Jewish faith = automatically racist; results in a suggestion to join the KKK.

Making a critical statement of the Christian faith = fine; demonstrates a “highbrow” sense of humor.

  16. gigi33

I make it a habit to discrimate against everybody. That way no one can critizie me.

Everyone, lighten up. He was drunk. He was stupid, and, futher more a sexist pig according to what he said about the female deputy (Sugar Tits????). He’s gone off the deep end and someoen should throw the guy a life preserver. His “career” was pretty much over after making Passion of the Christ. Too controversial. Too over the top.

Let’s all watch Dodgeball and share a coca cola.

  17. Babybing

Thad, you are a real hoot!

  18. What’s with these mega successful actors, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, turning nuts on us. Does Hollywood cause Narcissitic Personality Disorder?

My grandma is Southern Baptist, very religious and a good old Christian woman and she said she would never watch The Passion of the Christ. She said if she wanted to know what happened she would read the bible, not watch some Mel Gibson movie. I think she was appalled at how people talked about how gory it was. I never saw it but am thinking maybe I should go watch it.

My point is, we say this group is bigoted and this group is racist. Let’s face it folks, all groups are just as bigoted as the next. Behind closed doors, every “group” in existance is going to at some point crack jokes or make bad comments about another group. Some people would never do this. And the people that would never do this are not confined to Christians, Jews, Republicans, Democrats, Blacks, Whites. People are people. We pretty much stick to beliefs we are raised with and with this fact no one is better than anyone else. We all have these masive egos and try to find justification that we are better than everyone else. It’s human nature to look out for number 1

  19. Blommor are nice

I’m shocked over what someone like Mel Gibson can throw out of his mouth and how inconsiderant he is to other ethincal races. Someone should shove information through his head and make him understand that hate has caused mayor problems and disasters in history as well as today.

To say that the holocaust never happened reminds me of the people that conspire over the fact that we never went to the moon or similar. How dumb can a person be? Please do us all a favour and restart the first grade so that you actually know what all the letters in the alphabet stand for and then open up a book about WW2. And to the comments on the website, keep your ideas to yourself and don’t share your ignorance with us. If you have personal problems then don’t blame them on the Jews. That’s just stupid!

  20. Lisa

I’m having a hard time believing he said this. I really like Mel Gibson and would be heart broken if this is actually true.

  21. Lisa

Alright just read about his apology on perezhilton. I am very disappointed in him.
