Matt Damon Honored By American Cinematheque

Everyone thinks Matt Damon is great and here’s the proof.

Last night Damon received the 24th American Cinematheque Award at the Beverly Hilton Hotel’s International Ballroom in Beverly Hills.  Yeah, I’ve never heard of it either, but it’s apparently described as a mid-career achievement honor given to actors, directors, and other film industry artists who have made a significant contribution to the medium.  I guess the Oscars, Golden Globes, Tonys, and Emmys weren’t enough to get that across.  Either way, Eddie Murphy was the first person to get this award, which is kind of awesome.

Anyway, the award was presented by Ben Affleck (natch.) and sycophants, I mean speakers, included Jennifer Garner, Sarah ‘I’m fucking Matt Damon’ Silverman, Jimmy ‘I’m fucking Ben Affleck’ Kimmel, and Charlize Theron.

Please to enjoy some pretty pictures from the event.  Matt looks pretty good in his three-piece tux.  Charlize Theron looks nice and also somehow boring.  I don’t know why Olivia Wilde is there.  Sarah Silverman, who finally dressed like the 40-year-old that she actually is, was there with a hot date (yeah, he’s my type) as did Jimmy Kimmel.  Awkward.

And as a final note, I know that Matt Damon has made a lot of great movies and done a bunch of humanitarian shit, but every time I hear his name, I think of the puppet version of him from Team America.  Matt Damon!
