Here’s the thing about Matt Bomer, he’s a pretty face, yes, but he’s also so much more than that. There is a talent in him that goes beyond just beauty and hits at your soul.
Which is exactly what he plans to do in the HBO movie The Normal Heart. Matt is currently on his promotional spree for the movie (Yay!). Yesterday he covered OUT and today he’s rocking Details Magazine, and revealing some things about himself.
Perhaps the biggest reveal is that he and Simon Halls have been married since 2011.
Remember back in the day when we spotted Matt with a ring on that finger but didn’t know what it was about? Apparently that’s what it was. The actor still waited until 2012 to officially come out, but he credits The Normal Heart writer Larry Kramerwith helping him get to where he is. “I wouldn’t have a lot of the rights I have today if it wasn’t for people like Larry.”
Matt and the film’s director Ryan Murphy have mentioned how eager Matt was for a role in the movie, something that he echoes again. ” I just wanted to be involved with the project in some capacity. I didn’t care what my part was.”
Luckily his part is an excellent one. As Felix Turner, the boyfriend of Mark Ruffalo‘s Ned Weeks, we watch his death play out in the movie. And from the looks of it, it should be a rough one. “It’s rare that you get to play a great role that has an arc,” he told the magazine.
