Hello Socialite Life movie lovers!
If you’re a sucker for the at-a-later-date follow up to the original type of movie, then – like me – you’ve been looking forward to the premiere of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
After seeing the original Wall Street in some random high school math class (God bless that teacher who, like his students, loved in-class movie day), I decided this is probably the closest I’m going to get to understanding the stock market.
According to reviews, the “older crowd” who’ve seen the original “Greed is Good” film will be the ones schlepping to the box office this weekend, which means there will be an audience of Michael Douglas-type men scoffing around with popcorn.
Wall Street 2 also stars Shia LeBeouf, who said he’s learned a thing or two in preparation for the film, so you young wanna be traders might want to check the film out. Apparently he learned how to swoon his co-star, Carey Mulligan, too. The pair hooked up on set and she’s now his “Fair” lady.
Find out what else is in theaters this weekend after the jump.
The film that will give Wall Street 2 a slight run for its money is Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.Really, if Wall Street loses to a few talking owls debating about good verse evil, I might fall over. But with a 3D component and lack of children’s films in theaters right now, Guardians will at least make the top three in the box office. Unless parents realize that Guardians is directed by Zach Snyder, the same man who brought us 300 and The Watchmen, and the film has that same dark undertone.Unfortunately, the one film that will probably only make a hiccup on the box office radar is You Again. Loaded with a star-studded female ensemble of Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver, this film doesn’t have much to boast besides the superior Snickers comedic timing of Betty White and a few matching outfits.
