Martinis and Popcorn: 80s Remake Weekend

June 10th, 2010 // Leave a Comment

Time to break out the big hair and stone-washed denim, Socialite Life movie lovers! We’re heading back to the 80s with the remakes this weekend.

The A-Team, a popular 80s action-comedy series, is being brought to the silver screen – updated and newly improved i.e. the hotness that is Bradley Cooper will be shirtless and blowing things up. Hello and thank you!

Never fear, gentlemen. For those without a bromance, Cooper’s on-screen love interest is Jessica Biel, a big trade-up from his real-life leading lady.

In my opinion, the real pull is Cooper, but Biel, Liam Neeson, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Sharlto Copely round out the rest of the team. Prepare yourself for high action violence similar to that of Narc and Smokin’ Aces, as the director is Joe Carnahan. Also, expect all A-Team cameos except Mr. T. I pity the fool… this might’ve jumped start his career again.

I wonder if there’ll be any cameo’s in The Karate Kid. If not, that’s a lot of Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. The film is 140 minutes long! Set in China – not Cali, things are a little different this time. The kid is literally a kid, pre-adolescent verse the original’s high school age.

Good luck to those parents who successfully keep their kid from squirming after the first hour!

With that being said, you have one of two choices.

1. Make it a complete 80s night, get dressed up in your favorite 80s gear – don’t forget the scrunchy! – and check out a remake then after have fruity drinks and sing to happy hour songs at a local dive bar.

2. OR check out Winter’s Bone. A film that dominated the Sundance Film Festival and an in-depth character development and study.
