Movie goer’s dilemma this weekend will be whether to see The Green Hornet or The Dilemma, but both are geared towards a predominantly male audience with a focus on the bromance – sorry ladies. So what will it be? A bromance about two men fighting crime; or a bromance about two men saving one man’s marriage?
The Green Hornet is taking an early lead starring Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Jay Chou… ok fine, since he made an effort to get arrested and all, Edward Furlong is somewhere in the movie, too. Judging from the trailer, Hornet‘s combination of Rogen’s leading superhero humor and Chou’s sidekick expertise will lead to box office success (which similar films such as Guy Ritchie‘s Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law have found. Oh yes, the Brit boys club).
This film was made to succeed, as The Los Angeles Times reveals it was originally “poorly received at Comic-Con in July,[so] the filmmakers radically changed Green Hornet in the editing room while Sony revamped its advertising.” Ahh… the formula for success: listen to what others think of you.
But if quit witted humor, cool 3D effects and superheroes aren’t your schtick, then you’ve got The Dilemma starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, who’s easily becoming one of my favorite comedians on the big screen as of late. Premises: the biggest dilemma facing any bromance. Do you tell your best friend his wife is cheating on him? Eh, I say if its Winona Ryder let her go!
