Martinis and Popcorn: 3 Reasons To See ‘Elephants’ over ‘Madea’

A weekend movie battle of large proportions, an elephant is up against Madea! Although critics are insisting that Madea will be the favorite this weekend, here are five reasons why you should see Water for Elephants over Madea’s Big Happy Family this weekend.

  1. The film stars our favorite Twilight actor, Robert Pattinson, and features his lovely and versatile mug.
  2. Both Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon told Access Hollywood that they enjoyed filming the sex scene, which will be lusty and hot. Will it top the Breaking Dawn Edward/Bella scene? To fairly compare, we should probably see both.
  3. Witherspoon performs circus tricks…?

Alright, I’m not entirely certain about that last one, but the Vogue spread of her atop an elephant leads me to believe that it’s possible and it wouldn’t be fair to have all three reasons focused on Pattinson… or would it?

What isn’t in question is the on-screen chemistry between Pattinson and Witherspoon as they recreate the best-selling novel of the same name, about fate bringing a young man to a circus and falling in love with the animal trainer’s wife/equestrian performer.

However, what will allow Madea’s Big Happy Family to pull more box office buck is the extensive track record of Tyler Perry. This is the fourth film featuring the comical Madea and with a committed audience and a light hearted, family friendly holiday weekend,  Madea will take down our beloved elephant.
