Mark-Paul Gosselaar Talks Dying His Hair For ‘Saved By The Bell’, Promotes ‘Franklin & Bash’

Mark-Paul Gosselaar: Then and now.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar let us in on a little secret…

He was never blonde! Even though the actor rose to fame because of his role as blonde-haired Zack Morris in Saved By the Bell, he admits that it was fake! The 40-year-old says he dyed his dark hair blonde before every episode and says he can’t believe he still has all his hair.

During an appearance on Live with Kelly & Michael, he said:

People go, ‘Wow! You’re not blonde anymore. When was I ever blonde? That’s not real!

That’s news to me too. I always thought he was blonde! However, the dark hair does suit him well…

The actor (and his brown hair) now star alongside Breckin Meyer in the TNT series Franklin and Bash. The two were in New York City yesterday promoting their show at Sirius radio.

The actors even got to talking about Mark’s old co-star Dustin Diamond’s tell-all memoir-turned Lifetime-movie, Behind the Bell. In his memoir, Dustin claims that the show was one big drug-fueled orgy behind the scenes. Mark defended himself and the show to HuffPost Live. He said:

It is negative. That I must say. Everything I’ve heard about his book is it is negative. I don’t remember those things. My experience on the show was very positive.

Hmmm…sounds like Dustin Diamond is looking for 5 extra minutes of fame. What do you think? Meanwhile, launch the gallery to check out photos of Mark-Paul Gosselaar looking studly in a fitted navy-blue suit!
