Madonna ‘Shocked’ At Malawi Convicting Gay Men

Madonna hearts Malawi. She did a documentary there, adopted two children there, is building a school there, but now the country is on her shit list.

Two men who held an engagement ceremony were convicted of “gross indecency and unnatural acts” and sentenced to 14 years of hard labor by a Malawian court.

Madonna, who is seen here leaving the Aura nightclub at 1 am this morning where she was performing, said the following in a statement:

“I am shocked and saddened by the decision made today by the Malawian court, which sentenced two innocent men to prison. Today Malawi took a giant step backward. The world is filled with pain and suffering; therefore, we must support our basic human right to love and be loved. I call upon the progressive men and women of Malawi–and around the world–to challenge this decision in the name of human dignity and equal rights for all.”

Beautifully said! She’s so articulate. When I read the statement, I wanted to book a ticket to Malawi, throw a big rock at the government and tell them that they are dumb, but politics aren’t my specialty.
