‘Mad Men,’ ‘Mildred Pierce,’ Lead Emmy Nominations

July 14th, 2011 // Leave a Comment

The Emmy nominations are out and Mad Men leads with 19 nominations, including best drama. Stars Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss are up for lead acting honors. The melodramatic miniseries Mildred Pierce starring Kate Winslet grabbed a total of 21 bids.

Nominees for the Primetime Emmy Awards were announced by Melissa McCarthy of CBS’ Mike & Molly (who was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role on that show) and Joshua Jackson of Fox’s Fringe.

Other leading nominees include the Prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire with 18 nominations, Saturday Night Live with 16 and sex-and-swords fantasy Game of Thrones and the sitcom 30 Rock with 13 bids each.

Congrats to my personal favorites – Michelle Forbes’ supporting nod for The Killing and Mireille Enos for lead actress, the love for Friday Night Lights, and nods for the majority of The Good Wife cast. One major boo for not acknowledging Fringe‘s John Noble once again!! One WTF? The Kennedys was nominated for best miniseries.

The Emmy ceremony is scheduled to air on Fox on Sept. 18. The list of Emmy nominations for the major categories are after the jump.
