Considering that the Olympics are in London this year, all eyes were on Great Britain’s men’s gymnastics team yesterday. Unfortunately they did not win gold, however came close to winning silver, but settled with a bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics games.
Great Britain’s captain and role model, Louis Smith, has a lot to do with the success of this gymnastics team. His win back in 2008 was the first individual medal the British men had captured in the Olympics since 1908. 100 years!
Daniel Purvis, Smith’s teammate, who helped Great Britain win bronze in yesterday’s competition, said:
What Louis did in Beijing enabled British gymnasts to get sponsorship money, which has really helped my training and everyone else’s. The legacy he created is really big and it’s about everyone coming together.
