It’s hard to know when Lindsay’s parents are genuinely concerned over their daughter, and when they’re just enjoying some press. Michael Lohan told E! Online that he has decided to make nice with Lindsay’s mom, Dina, in the hopes that their joint efforts will help Lindsay with her recovery from the downward spiral into which she seems to be slipping.

“I have decided to drop all the court stuff for now,” says Michael, adding that he has put repeated calls in to his daughter since she left rehab, anxious to offer advice and put their damaged relationship back together.

“Lindsay needs her mother and her father to help her get through this. She won’t make it without us.”

Aww, that’s sweet. Michael, that is such a sweet, loving sentiment that you’re expressing. It’s a shame this isn’t TEN YEARS AGO, when you and your wife were grooming your firstborn to be a red-headed cash cow. In addition, Lindsay’s lawyer has released a statement on the whole debacle.

See what Lindsay’s lawyer has to say after the jump…

“Addiction is a terrible and vicious disease. Since Lindsay transitioned to outpatient care, she has been monitored on a SCRAM bracelet and tested daily in order to support her sobriety. Throughout this period, I have received timely and accurate reports from the testing companies. Unfortunately, late yesterday I was informed that Lindsay had relapsed. The bracelet has now been removed. She is safe, out of custody and presently receiving medical care.”

Maybe if they convince Dina that there’s a movie premiere going on inside Promises, they can trick her into visiting Lindsay for an “interview.”

If these two were truly concerned parents, they would not be talking to ANY media about the situation with their daughter. All snark aside, I feel sorry for Lindsay in a lot of ways and first on that list is the parents. Like J. said where the hell was all this “concern” years ago? They’re both basket-cases and can offer little support to their daughter. Best case scenario for Lindsay is to get away from all of these “concerned” people and live out of the spot light-she can’t do that hanging with a couple of fame-whores for parents.
