Congratulations Showtime!

The popular television giant hit an all time high when their newest original series, Ray Donovan, received 1.35 million viewers at 10 PM making it the most watched series premiere in the history of the network.

The main character, Ray Donovan (played by Liev Schreiber) is a “fixer” for the rich and famous but he starts to experience his own problems when he father, Mickey Donovan (Jon Voight) is suddenly released from prison.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the Schreiber show was repeated on Sunday and Showtime also allowed subscribers to watch it on on-demand platforms in the two weeks leading up to the premiere. Once all those viewers were added up, Ray Donovan passed the 3 million threshold.

The new Showtime series looks pretty good but when I watched the trailer, all I could think about when I heard Elliott Goulds’ voice was Ross and Monica’s awkwardly quirky father in Friends.

Anyone else with me on that one?

Will you be watching Ray Donovan?
