Gossip Girl‘s Leighton Meester has quickly taken her on-screen fashion notoriety to the streets with her own style. Seen above at Harrod’s for the launch of Lovestruck, the new fragrance by Vera Wang, Meester, who was wearing wearing a blouse and leather leggings by Vera Wang, manages to make a seeminly casual outfit look breath-taking. The word on the street is that Leighton signed a 3 million dollar contract last year for becoming the face of the scent.
In a recent discussion on why the designer chose Leighton for the campaign Wang said, ”When I heard tourists saying ‘I want to look like her,’ I knew we were right on the money. There’s nothig like the real client in the street, and I mean the street literally – an in windows literally.” From the photo gallery alone you can tell she made the right call on this one. It appears this is not the first time Leighton and Vera have come together.
While the rest of the world looks at Leighton as a trendsetter, she has a different opinion on the matter. ”Gossip Girl has absolutely changed my style. And living in New York I’ve become more brave and aware of fashion. I completely close my eyes to it when people call me a fashion icon becaues it’s an opinion from people that I don’t know. I wear what I like.” Well either way, it’s working!
