Leave ‘Friday Night Lights’ Out Of It, Mitt Romney

The 'Friday Night Lights' star took it off.
“Please come up with your own campaign slogan,” Friday Night Lights writer-director Peter Berg wrote in a letter to Mitt Romney, claiming the presidential candidate ripped off his phrase.

Damn straight!

The Hollywood Reporter obtained a letter Berg sent to the Romney campaign for using the phrase, “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.”  The quote lives on Romney’s Facebook page (complete with a silhouette of Coach Taylor standing in the rain), and the candidate told an audience in Iowa earlier this week that the words were “compelling.”  Read on for the full letter…

Yeah, but they’re more compelling coming from Coach.

“The only relevant comparison that I see between your campaign and Friday Night Lights is in the character of Buddy Garrity — who turned his back on American car manufacturers selling imported cars from Japan,” Berg added in his letter.
