Lea Michele & The Cast Of ‘Glee’ Lead Emotionally Charged Teen Choice Award Wins

The Teen Choice Awards are generally a time of silliness and fun, but the cast of Glee, and specifically star Lea Michele, brought a whole lot of tears with them tonight as they accepted their awards.

Glee took home the prize for Choice TV Comedy and as the cast went up to attend, we definitely though Lea would be a no show.

Kevin McHale, Amber Riley and Jenna Ushkowitz got the tears started as they thanked their fans and made mention of Cory Monteith, who passed away last month from heroin and alcohol

Amber started off with:

“Although we lost someone that we really love and that all of you guys love too, we are very fortunate to come back to a show where we feel the love of family. Cory was like a brother to us and like a dad. He was always ready to sign an autograph or take a picture with a fan. He loves you Gleeks, and he loved his fans.”

Jenna continued, “On behalf of our brother and our cast-mate we know that Cory would have wanted to dedicate this award to you guys. Our condolences to you as well. We love you so much.”

So by this point, we’re already welling up, right? Then Lea made her first appearance since Cory’s passing to accept the award for Choice TV Actress Comedy, and that’s the when the water works really started. Lea was fighting back tears the whole time and made sure to lean on her Gleecast-mates for support. Here’s her full speech:

“I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you and tell everyone out there how much all of your love and support has meant to me over these very past difficult few weeks. Thank you. Not that I had any doubt before, but you guys are most certainly the greatest fans in the world. I wanted to dedicate this award to Cory. For all of you out there who loved and admired Cory as much as I did, I promise that with your love, we’re gonna get through this together. He was very special to me, and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of hearts, and that’s where he will stay forever.”

I won’t lie, there was a lot of crying going on in my house when Lea was done. And even through all the tears, Lea still looked flawless. What were your thoughts on the Cory tributes? Think it was lovely? Check it out the video below and let us know in the comments. And don’t forget to check out photos of all your favorite Gleeks in the gallery.
