Lea Michele Covers Teen Vogue With BFF Jonathan Groff, Talks About Her “Insane Love” With Cory Monteith

It’s been a little more than six months since Cory Monteith’s death, and most of us are still wondering how Lea Michele has gotten through losing the love of her life.

In a special interview with Teen Vogue, the actress was interviewed by her best friend and former Glee co-star, Jonathan Groff. The two have been BFFs for over eight years, and spoke about their past, Lea’s album, and of course, Cory.

Since Cory’s death, the 27-year-old has immersed herself in her work. She not only finished filming new episodes of Glee, but also worked extra hard on her album, Louder.

According to the singer, the album is called Louder because it describes herself perfectly. She said that she’s just that, loud. Her favourite song on the album is, “You’re Mine” because of the emotional reaction she had to it.

When asked what was Cory’s favorite song, she said:

He was such a fan, you don’t understand. He would be like, “You’re going to be a pop star! What are we going to do? Are we going to, like, go on the road?” He would say, “This is going to be big!” And I’d be like, “I don’t know.” He heard every song and gave me his notes on everything. He loved “Battlefield.” I’m getting chills thinking about it. I would say “Burn with You” was his favorite. He came into the studio that day.

When Jonathan asked her where she thinks she got her strength, she said:

I somehow feel the insane love Cory and I had for each other morphed into this strength that I have right now. There’s just something about knowing he’s watching everything I’m doing and feeling like I have to do everything now not just for me but for him. I also have a safety net below me—if I fall or if it’s too much, my friends and family will be there to catch me.

Still can’t believe that Cory’s gone, but glad to hear that he is giving Lea strength to get through it. Launch the gallery to check out photos of Lea and Jonathan Groff look adorable in March’s issue of Teen Vogue.
