La Lopez and Cris Judd Square off for a Dance Dance Revolution

With the American public happily embracing the prime-time reality sensation known as “Dancing with the Stars,” a number of other reality shows trying to ride the dancing wave have popped up on TV. However, the two most auspicious of the bunch might just be the two danced-inspired reality television shows helmed by Jennifer Lopez and her ex-husband, Cris Judd, respectively. US Weekly has the details:

The Associated Press reports that the former spouses are both launching dance-themed reality television shows in January 2007. Judd, 37, hosts “Dirty Dancing” (Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on the Women’s Entertainment channel), inspired by the classic ’80s movie of the same name. Eighteen women (like Jennifer Grey’s rich girl “Baby”) and six professional male dancers (think poor dance instructor Patrick Swayze’s “Johnny”) compete together to win a dance contract and the chance to be represented by an Emmy award-winning choreographer. Meanwhile, Lopez, 38, is executive producer of MTV’s “DanceLife”, a series about six aspiring dancers struggling to make it in Hollywood.

That’s all very well and good, but why can’t there be a show where Mrs. Lopez and the ex-Mr. Lopez Numero Dos have a real-live pants-off dance-off cage-match, which can only end when the loser (who is finally served) soldier-crawls his/her bloody body out of the ring? Hmm, maybe that’s something to think about for sweeps…
