Kobe Bryant Appeals NBA Fine For Homophobic Slur
After a ref slapped Kobe Bryant with a technical foul, Bryant called him a”f___ing f___t” during last night’s Lakers game. This set everyone into a tizzy today, and the NBA fined Bryant $100,000 for his offensive remark.
According to TMZ, Bryant told ESPN radio that he intends to appeal the fine. Though he hasn’t issued an actual apology for what he said, Bryant told ESPN “The concern that I have is for those that follow what I say … look to me as a role model .. for them not to take what was said as a message of hate or a license to degrade … or to embarrass or tease … because that’s something I don’t wanna see have happen.” Bryant, spotted filming a Smart Car commercial in LA February 17th, followed this up with, “It’s OK to be who you are.”
