Director Tom Hooper won the prestigious Outstanding Directorial Feature Award from the US Director`s Guild for his film The King’s Speech. This win pretty much assures Best Director and Best Picture Oscar wins.

The award was handed out last night (January 29) at the 63rd Annual DGA Awards held at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, CA.

Martin Scorsese‘s TV series Boardwalk Empire also received a prize from the Director`s Guild. Charles Ferguson won the DGA Award for best director of a documentary, Inside Job, which tells the story behind the economic crisis of 2008.

Along with all the A-list directors, there were plenty of A-List celebrities in attendance. Natalie Portman attended with her Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky. She looked gorgeous in a Michael Kors black dress. Leonardo DiCarpio was on hand to present the director’s nomination plaque to his Inception director Christopher Nolan.
