Kelly Clarkson, perhaps sensing that there’s a foreboding sense of failure attached to her newest ventures, has spoken out about her perceived hatred of record label exec Clive Davis. She’s trying to soften her image, because the black bra, white shirt, clunky earrings I hate the label schtick wasn’t cutting it.
I want to set the record straight on this by saying that I want my band, my advisors [sic], those close to me and my record label to be one big, tightly knit family,” Clarkson wrote. “Like any family we will disagree and argue sometimes but, in the end, it’s respect and admiration that will keep us together.”
The former Idol went on to say, “Contrary to recent characterizations in the press, I’m well aware that Clive is one of the great record men of all time.”
This is interesting, because she said something verrrry different previously. Keep reading (plus more photos).
Kelly, who has scrapped her tour for the time being, had this to say about Clive Davis at an earlier, less scary time when she was feeling like she had a great album and a big pair of stones.
perhaps she means the time she told USA Weekend, “I’m going to be real honest with you: I am not a fan [of Davis] … I do respect him, but I don’t want to barbecue with him. We don’t braid each other’s hair. And, despite the rumors, he is nowhere near a father figure.”
Hey 180! From what I’ve heard, the album isn’t THAT bad but she’s obviously building herself an escape hatch. You can be cocky but back it up!
