Kelly Rowland is trying to break out of Beyonce‘s shadow with her new album titled Here I am. Rowland’s first single “Motivation” featuring Lil Wayne hit number 1 on the r&b/hip hop songs chart. Her album release party was held yesterday (July 26) at the Moet Rose Lounge in New York City. Many celebrities were in attendance including her former Destiny’s Child group members Beyonce Knowles and Michelle Williams.
Maybe third times a charm because her debut album Simply Deep and sophomore album Ms.Kelly flopped. The process of getting the new album on store shelves was a tough process. Here I am was originally suppose to be titled Kelly Rowland and was pushed back four times. Since the album’s release the reviews have been mixed, critics either recommend it or don’t.
Kelly Rowland announced on New York’s Hot 97 that she will be touring with Chris Brown this September. Rowland dishes to MTV, “I think that’s what I admire about artists like Chris Brown and Rihanna, who don’t mind putting it all on their album. Who cares? It’s music, and they’re making it: great music. And I’m proud of that, that we do have a generation that is just making great music, period,” she said. I am happy for Rowland, and that she is clearly having the time of her life right now. She deserves some time in the spotlight.
