He’s tall, blond, and has one hell of a body, so what could make Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz even more irresistible? The fact that he loves animals! Not just any animals, but crabs and lobsters!
After watching a PETA video featuring employees at a top Maine factory farm ripping live crustaceans apart, the Hercules 3D star sent a letter to the owner of Linda Bean’s Maine Lobster! In his letter, he urges her to “stop the most egregious acts of cruelty to animals.”
The PETA video exposes the way the restaurant handles the cooking of crabs and lobsters. The employees either dump the crustaceans, still alive, in boiling water or throw them in the trash where they are left to die.
Because of that, Lutz also writes in his letter:
Watching these animals writhe as their exposed internal organs were violently scrubbed off with spinning brushes made me wonder how you could possibly wait one second longer to spend a little of your profits on a machine that renders these animals unconscious prior to being processed. I respectfully and urgently appeal to you to make an immediate decision to end the dismemberment and mutilation of live, conscious crustaceans and switch to a slaughter method that ensures a quick and far less painful death, such as electrical stunning or pressure.
The actor believes that crabs and lobsters should be treated the same as dogs or dolphins! Very adorable of him to care about the rights of crustaceans.
