Katie Holmes, Gwyneth Paltrow, And Diane Kruger Fumble At The National Movie Awards

The National Awards, where the winners are voted on by viewers, took place in London today and here’s the gist.

Katie Holmes wore a very ill-received long Holmes & Yang Chevron spaghetti strap dress, which I actually like, but she mispaired it with some clunky shoes as she walked the red carpet with Tom Cruise. Gwyenth Paltrow appeared, after her visit to the new Luis Vuitton store, in a Pepto Bismal pink Judy Jetson space dress, and Diane Kruger, usually making a stylish pair with Joshua Jackson, looks like what I imagine it does under my couch cushions. Luckily no one needs fashion votes to get into the show.

Inside, Sherlock Holmes was the first to win an award as it was voted favorite action/thriller.  Although when Director Guy Ritchie accepted it he said, “We set out to make a comedy but we’ll take it where we can get it.”

The Twilight Saga: New Moon took the award for best fantasy film over Avatar and Robert Pattinson received the award for best performance. He couldn’t attend as he is filming Water For Elephants, but in a video clip he said “It means a lot to me because you, the fans, decided the winner. Thanks for voting for me.
