Kathy Ireland Defends Pre-Oscar Hosting Skills

March 8th, 2010 // 1 Comment

Former swimsuit model, Kathy Ireland, was slammed by critics for her “stiff and awkward” celebrity interviews during ABC’s pre-Oscar interviews.

“No One Reads a Teleprompter Like Kathy,” screamed a TMZ headline. According to Us Weekly, she received most of her nasty comments within 140 characters – on Twitter that is. Although likely bombarded by the negative feedback, Ireland took time to reply to each individual comment.

Similar to her grateful and gracious exit from last season’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’, Ireland simply tweeted: “[I] cannot please everyone…and frankly I wouldn’t ever want to” and to another fan, “Don’t feel embarrassed for me. [I] had a blast and it was so much FUN!”

A true sign of class (easily visible in these pictures of her looking very statuesque the 82nd Annual Academy Awards Governor’s Ball held at Kodak Theatre on March 7th), Ireland went on to say, “I won’t give up my day job of design.”

She knows what she’s good at: being the CEO of Kathy Ireland World Wide, a $1.4 billion design empire.

Frankly, the whole Pre-Oscars show was nothing but a fiasco, and Kathy was the LEAST egregious in sounding out of touch and self-promoting.

Unfortunately, the Oscars need to start about an hour earlier than they do and the whole program needs to be revamped – ditch that lame musical montage and move sound & sound editing to the technical awards program.

Also, pay attention to who has died. Forgetting Farrah Fawcett & Bea Arthur was very much noticed. Especially since you managed to include Michael Jackson and his picture clocked up a nice long chunk of time, not to mention the totally unmatched size. And you might was well go ahead and inform the world that only 30 people with some slight connection to movies are allowed to die each year, since that is all you will try to find room to memorialize.
