Kate Middleton [Kind Of] Covers South African ‘Marie Claire’
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has landed on the cover of Marie Claire South Africa’s August issue. Correction: her photoshopped head has landed on the cover of Marie Claire South Africa’s August issue.
A photo of The Duchess of Cambridge, taken from the November 16th, 2010 announcement of her engagement to Prince William, sits atop the head of a model sporting a very busy design. If you take a closer look, the long bangs which are normally on the the right side of her face sit on the left.
The South African edition describes the cover as “fan-art tribute.”
We were so inspired by her fairytale wedding and her life as a modern-day princess, which is why we elected Kate Middleton as our cover star for the August issue. She’s wearing local designer Clive Rundle on the cover. But upon closer inspection, the cover is – much like her life – more fantasy than reality. The cover is actually a hyper-real illustration of Kate, meant to be a fan art tribute to fashion’s new royal icon.
Five local illustrators did similar work inside the issue and explained what they loved about Her Royal Highness: Her “grace, confidence, and warmth have captivated the world as much as her beauty.”
Catherine will put all that and more on display come July 27th, when the Summer Olympics kick off in London. She joins William and Prince Harry as Team Great Britain ambassadors, and will spend time during the games visiting with British athletes.
