With a frog puppet in hand and radiant smile in place, Kate Middleton visited Shooting Star Children’s Hospice in Middlesex today.
Just yesterday, the Duchess of Cambridge appeared alongside Prince William at the premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, where the audience learned of the South African leader’s death.
Said Queen Elizabeth of the event, the royal couple “were clapping like mad and somebody came on and said [waves arms], can you just listen please, we have just heard he has died.”
Despite the emotional evening, Kate Middleton looked cheerful as she participated in a sing-along with the children as part of their music therapy. And if seeing the combination of Kate with a frog puppet plus smiling tots isn’t enough to seize your heart on this Friday evening, then it’s time to take a good, hard look at yourself.
The Duchess spent most of her time at the hospice chatting with the children and their parents. According to a mother who was present, “She asked me about my boys…and I told her how they like messy play. She said she has just introduced George to messy play and what fun it was.”
I’m a little concerned about what “messy play” means in the context of a five-month-old, because I’m pretty sure all they’re capable of doing at that age is spewing baby fluids from their tiny baby orifices – so let’s jut assume that “messy play” is a Britishism for “Lincoln logs” or “Legos.”
