The event, held in a Soho gallery, was curated by Lagerfeld and former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld. Lagerfeld’s latest creation was a wedding dress for pregnant bride Drew Barrymore, who married art consultant Will Kopelman last weekend at her Montecito, CA home.
“I love her. She’s great,” Lagerfeld told the Associated Press of Barrymore at the exhibit. The creative director described the pleated muslin and organza dress with a ruffled collar as “perfect” for the actress, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child. Kopelman’s father is the former CEO of Chanel, and Lagerfeld has known the groom since he was little.
And what about the Duchess of Cambridge?
Though she hasn’t been photographed wearing Chanel (yet), Lagerfeld told The Hollywood Reporter that Catherine “looks perfect, there’s nothing I have to change! I think she looks beautiful.” Amen.
There are a handful of bitchy mcbitchersons hating on the Duchess and her (mostly) inexpensive style. Some want her spending $800 on her footwear, while others want her to live up to her title and spend exorbitant amounts of money on luxurious threads fans can’t afford. Lagerfeld take on this? “Then people would say they spent too much money, you know?” he said, defending Catherine decision to take the high street. ”We live in a strange world.”
The summer of London kicked off last weekend with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and there’s still the Olympics to enjoy in July. ”Great advertising for England!” Lagerfeld proclaimed. ”The Olympic games and (the Jubilee), they have a great year.”
Indeed they do, good sir.
