With everyone jumping on the reality show competition bandwagon, Justin Timberlake is holding a talent contest of his own. The ShowBuzz reports:
The Recording Academy, together with CBS Corp. and Yahoo Inc., is holding a contest to find an unsigned artist to perform with the 25-year-old “SexyBack” singer at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, to air live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 11. Contestants are being asked to submit a 60-second video clip singing one of nine songs selected by Timberlake, all of which have won Grammys. A panel will whittle the contestants to 12, and then much like “American Idol,” regular people will be able to vote online to narrow the field to five, then three. The three finalists will be announced during Super Bowl weekend and will attend the Grammy Awards ceremony. During the show, the winner will be announced and hop on stage to sing with Timberlake.
If you’re one of the other 5 people in America who actually watched Missy Elliot’s “The Road to Stardom,” you’re about to get the following reference, however, it doesn’t guarantee it’s going to be funny. And for the rest of you, I can guarantee it won’t be. How logical is the choice of Matthew from the show, to act as Justin’s slightly less heterosexual mini-me?
Here’s my alternate joke for everyone else, “Hey, I can stand next to Justin Timberlake and let him expose my breast as good as the next guy. Does that mean I can come on the show?”
