Timberlake performed at the US President’s celebration of soul music from Memphis, Tennessee, the singer’s hometown, at the latest In Performance at the White House concert, singing alongside the likes of soul legend Booker T Jones, Queen Latifah and Cyndi Lauper, reported the Washington Post.
Timberlake caused a stir with his appearance and Obama had to calm things down a bit.
“Oh, watching you all’s faces — priceless,” said Obama after Timberlake showed up. “Priceless. See, you never know what’s going to happen at the White House. Okay, let’s breathe. Come on. Everyone, let’s breathe, even the moms.”
Obama also spot about importance of the music of Memphis and said of Timberlake’s work ethic, “[When] Justin first started touring, he would immediately go to the bus to watch a tape of his performance, taking notes so that the next night he would be even better.”
The concert will air on PBS next Tuesday, April 16.
