Exclusive and private are more appropriate than secret, as only the location of this 350 person concert was concealed from fans. They were very much clued in to the fact that it was happening. Melissa Hoyer, news.com.au’s entertainment editor-at-large (previously, a non-Belieber) got the inside scoop on this crazy cool event.
Thanks to Channel V, (the limited number of fans) were treated to an intimate concert with the one and only Justin Bieber. He sang all of his songs acoustic, accompanied only by his guitarist Dan Kanter and the screams and cries of hysterical fans. The concert, appropriately named Beiber: Live and Intimate, was held at the Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia, and the race to get a coveted ticket was no joke.
“We had 30,000 people apply for tickets and we could only have max 350 so it was a fierce competition,” said Shaun James, Foxtel’s music channel boss, who also co-hosted the afternoon’s private performance.
Want to hear the Beibs perform live? No worries. According to James, 2Dayfm’s Hot30 Countdown, Universal Music and Channel [V] will all broadcast the gig on Friday night (something I’m sure all of us Americans could easily find on the Internet).

Justin performed songs off his newest album, Believe, which debuted at No. 1 in Australia, but also surprised fans with forever fan favorite Baby. Bieber scored some big collaborations in this album. As Long As You Love Me features Big Sean, All Around The World includes Ludacris, Beauty and a Beat features superstar Nicki Minaj, and last but not least, Right Here with Drake! Now that’s what I call impressive.
The winners of the prized tickets were told to go to Cargo Bar, a waterside hang on the King St. Wharf before being shuttled to an undisclosed location that ended up being Fox Studios. Guests included were big names (in Australia) like Timomatic, Sarah de Bono, cricketer Shane Watson and wife Lee Furlong.
Justin did not disappoint and has been entertaining crowds in Australia, but this is only the beginning. He will be performing on Seven Network’s Sunrise (comparable to the Today Show, perhaps?) the morning of July 18 before he takes the stage at the grand finale of Australia’s Got Talent the same night. Time to come back to America, Justin! We miss you.
