Jonathan Rhys Meyers Hospitalized After Relapse

UPDATE: Better news, I guess. A source close to the actor has released this statement, “It was not a suicide attempt. He did relapse and was hospitalized briefly for that, but was released.”

This breaks my heart.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was hospitalized after a suspected suicide attempt on Tuesday. The Tudors star — who has been in rehab five times for alcohol problems — refused treatment by paramedics for more than 30 minutes, meaning they were forced to call police and he was eventually taken away by ambulance to a facility near his home in Maida Vale, north London.

Worried neighbors saw the 33-year-old actor — who was believed to have overdosed on unspecified pills — rushed to hospital.

“I saw the ambulance arriving and was worried to death,” an onlooker said. “Jonathan is a lovely guy. You see him all the time in the street. He says hello and is very pleasant. I hope he is fine.”

The actor was discharged from hospital yesterday but would only answer “no comment” when questioned on whether he had tried to commit suicide.

This makes me sad. I hope he is feeling better and gets some sort of help. He is a fine, young actor with a promising future if he can only stay away from the excessive alcohol use. Thoughts and prayers go out to him.

I feel badly that he relapsed. Some of these stars really have a problem with alcohol. I read on Grrlplanet that Lindsay seems to have relapsed her first day out of house arrest. I think sometimes we let them get away with so much that they end up dead long before their time.

Poor Rhys ! He’s so handsome and talented. I know he’s mostly known for the Tudors, but I loved his performance in one of my favorite movies “Matchpoint” with him and Scarlett Johansson.
If you’re a fan of his, you should rent this one. Great Movie.
Get well soon Rhys ! Hope he can beat the alcohol addiction. My best to him.
