“I don’t have the marriage chip, and neither of us have the greatest examples of marriages in
our families,” Hamm said, pictured with Westfeldt at the Emmy’s last year. “But Jen is the love of my life, and we’ve already been together four times longer
than my parents were married.”
At least humor us with some amazingly beautiful children? Nope, slim chance.
“I like kids but I also like the option to close the door,” the Emmy-nominated actor said. “Becoming a parent is a whole other
life, and it doesn’t stop.”
But while Jon Hamm shares little in common with his onscreen alias Don Draper (except for being absolutely gorgeous), he does identify with Don’s drive and humble beginnings. Hamm may be completely relaxed, goofy and not pressured by convention, just like Don, he had to work his way to the top and it was a long road.
He first moved to L.A. in 1995 and spent years trying to make it, driving around to auditions in a beat-up car.
“I drove around in a Volkswagen Rabbit I shared with one of my roommates, and it didn’t have
a roof,” he said. “It doesn’t rain much in L.A., but when it did, it was utterly miserable.”
